Garmin edge auto pause problem

My edge 500 kept auto pausing for long periods of time while moving. When I was putting on the cadence sensor, the spoke magnet cracked a little on the plastic part. I was able to put it on, but its a bit lose, and its making my garmin pause while moving.
So, can anyone recommend a reliable replacement spoke magnet? I have had a look at some of the longer magnets, but they require epoxy glue to fit them. Do I just go ahead? or will I ever need to take the spoke magnet off? I can imagine once the epoxy dries, you will never get the magnet off.

Are you sure the damaged magnet is the reason for the auto-pausing? I can understand that if it's loose on the spoke it might move out of range of the sensor, but it seems unlikely it would then move back again.
From experience I'd suggest the sensor is in slightly the wrong position or perhaps the battery is running low. You could also try forcing the Garmin to pair to it again.
Should you decide the magnet is the cause of the problem, finding a replacement is easy. Something like this:

The sensor itself has approx 300 miles on it so its probably not the battery, I did also reset the sensor before fitting it. I had to re fit it on to a new bike. Maybe the magnet is just a shade too far from the sensor. I think I will replace the magnet anyway, maybe a stronger magnet.Cube Attain SL Disc

Can I remove the spoke magnet all together? Just wondering while the sensor is picking up cadence, will it automatically look for a spoke magnet to determine speed? If I took the spoke magnet off, will it use GPS?Cube Attain SL Disc

Apart from the HRM I don't have any sensors with my Edge Touring Plus, and it determines speed via GPS. I love the simplicity of this arrangement.
Easiest thing to do is just try it without the spoke magnet and see. Worst case you can buy some small neodymium magnets off Ebay and Araldite one to a spoke.0 -
I never use autopause. It can cause slight inaccuracies and besides, if I'm stopped, I'm stopped and it's part of the ride.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

When you re-sync the sensor the green light (I think its green) on the calibrate button flashes when the sensor picks up the magnet on your pedal arm and spoke. If the sensor isn't picking up the magnet, then the device resorts to GPS. GPS is not great as you often lose the signal. If you do, speed goes to zero and the device pauses.
You are aware that the sensor arm can be adjusted?
I assume you have this
Any old spoke magnet will do.0
