After getting back into cycling this summer I realized how much I enjoy it and want to spring abit of money for something nice. I know these aren't all dedicated CX bikes and that's the main thing I want to ask about. I've basically got it down to these few:

-$1000 Brodie Revel http://brodiebikes.com/2014/bikes/revel.php

-$905 (sale) Norco Threshold A3 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/norco/threshold-a3-2015-cyclocross-bike-ec072589

-$1090~ Norco Search S3 http://www.spokeomotion.com/product/norco-search-s3-216925-1.htm

-$899 (sale 500 off but 2014 model and no disc brakes) Opus Andante 2.0 http://brownssports.com/index.php?id_product=361&controller=product#/size-l

-$800 Jamis Nova Sport (sportchek "sale") https://www.sportchek.ca/categories/equipment/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/product/jamis-nova-sport-bike-2015-331708353.html

Other suggestions? I'm located around Toronto I will primarily be using it for commuting and some light trails but I'd love to be able to give some races a shot this season as its something I've never done before and will definitely be taking it on some longer rides. The Search is probably ideal for me. It seems like I'd never be able to win a race on it, but being such an amateur that probably wouldn't happen anyway though I'd love to be able to compete. Also the Threshold is $200 cheaper. What are the differences between the two models in terms of speed and ridability? How much of a stepdown and difference is there between riding a Norco Valence A4 and a Threshold A3? Basically how pronounced are the differences between these bikes? Or is it more of a subjective/personal preference thing and that's all (eg. the search is 1km/hr slower than threshold but 5% more comfortable). All suggestions and comments are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
