New Chainring.

So it seems I've worn out the outer chainring of my FSA Gossamer chainset that came on my Whyte. I wouldn't say I've done enough miles to do this but hey ho!
It would seem though, that a new FSA one is going to be just over £40! I've had no experience of buying chainrings before but this seems a little steep when I can get a 105 chainset for just over £70?
So, can anyone recommend a good chainring as a slightly cheaper alternative to the FSA one's? Its a 104bcd and 50t that I'm after.

You sure about the BCD? Thought 110 was pretty standard for a 50t? Is it a 4 bolt MTB or 5 bolt road chainset?
Spa Cycles do no end of chainrings. Their own (110 bcd) 50t is only £200 -
Yeah sorry, it's 110. I must have had my MTB head on!
I'll have a look at Spa Cycles then.0 -

Not an FSA one though."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Not much love for FSA chainsets then? I must admit, apart from the chainring wearing pretty quick it's not been a problem. I would normally buy Shimano though just because they're really good value.0

I've got the FSA gossamer pro on my Genesis Equilibrium. I'm not that impressed so far - I think there's too much flex. Have you found this?0

Not really and I'm pretty big and heavy at 105Kg. Maybe because mine is the 30mm spindle 386 version?0 -

Bike brands put them on their lower model bikes to bring the price down. You can pick up a new Shimano Ultegra 6800 chainset for £120.
How would the FSA chainset reduce the price when you can't buy them cheaper than Shimano ones? Anyway, I'm going to stick with it and buy the cheap Spa Cycles ring and when the BB goes get myself a Shimano one as I've never had a problem with those.0 -

Because retail /= OEM pricing.0
