  • I really cant imagine why a saddle issue would make you piss blood, or dark urine.

I would be speaking to your GP asking for a referral (never mind about their opinion, just get onto an expert).

It`s not something that should be ignored, even if it only occurs with certain triggers.

    Get it looked at buddy.

And ignore the angled saddle comment. This bloke is in a school of thought of his own.
Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently

Plenty of bike shops do a swap policy on saddles - e.g., I was talking to Edinburgh bike co-op about that a few weeks ago. Basically if you don't like it you can swap it for another within 28 days (depending on company). Could be worth looking at.

I'll just drive a 260 mile round trip every time I want to try out a different saddle.

    a) There's Edinburgh bicycle co-ops in lots of places that aren't Edinburgh (confusingly ;) )

    b) I wasn't suggesting he had to go to that particular shop, just that some shops offer it and that it might be a good option to consider.

    Hi everyone,

I'd just like to remind you all to try and keep the tone civil in here: I understand there are a lot of strong opinions about saddle positions, and rightly so, but please remember our forum rules http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40034&t=12846748&p=17546828#p17546828.

Also, I really hope Coppi me gets this problem sorted out! Sounds very unpleasant and worrying. Hope all is OK,

    Bonny

    heear, hear !!!

    Any updates Coppi ?
  • still awaiting CT results but the general consensus is that my prostate is getting squeezed/traumatised or WHY from the saddle
due to working weekends and the fitter not being around on compatible days, I've still not had the toupe saddle fitted......I'm in no big rush as I was waiting for the CT results and pain to disappear all together anyway.
Will try and get the saddle sorted this week and complete the ride to work and see if symptoms persist/disappear

think eventually I may go for the Rido saddle
  • ok.....all sorted.....or not!!

spoke with a specialist nurse at the ozzy and CT scan shows no major issues...cancer etc so jobs a good 'un.
Go back in November for signing off so I'll ask a few questions of the head man but scan shows lower back wear and tear (knew about) and some diverticular occurring's in the bowel and I have gallstones which is nothing to worry about
It's looking like prostatitis according to the nurse and the bollock/hip pain is coming from a compressed prostate when riding....hopefully the new saddle sorts that but this pain has been known to hang around for 6 months so I could do without that.

on top of it all, I've pinged me back and feel like I've pinged me belly too and I'm walking like an old man, stiff and in pain and feel down. I won't be on the bike again until I've seen the main man and got some answers.

in short, get yerself checked out if you get any bleed or pain but don't worry too much as it may not be the big C
  • see the main man on Friday but decided to rid to work last night and get the miles in and see if all was ok. Evans cycles set me up on the bike as best they could and the new saddle felt a lot better. Got in work and passed water a few times without any blood and have no pain......yippee!!!!!!

picked up a Rido saddle too which should help even more

    onwards and upwards!!!
  • saw the main man today......all clear

got a big gall stone so if that kicks off they'll probably remove the gall bladder, but no issues at present.....ditto the diverticular disease

if I pass blood again, then it will be a surgery job to have a look inside but he's not expecting anything now. All things being equal, it was down to the saddle though the ozzy cannot say that 100%
