I currently have a aluminium Boardman with 105 which I've nearly run into the ground. I've saved up around 2.5k could stretch to 3k. Will mainly be using the bike for crits and in the summer.
Currently looking at canyon ultimate cf SL and SLX and wondering if it'd be better to get ultegra DI2 and more basic ksyrium with slightly heavier frame or mechanical ultegra with better wheels (ksyrium pro or cosmics).
Is it better to spend less and leave some money for upgrades?
Any other bikes to consider?
Cheers for any input, don't want to spend all that money to be disspointed

Cannondale supersix ultegra or force for £1500 leaves you £1000 which should get you some pretty nifty wheels !
Check Wheelies, Tredz and Pauls Cyccles for 'dale deals.

Tried di2 once and wasnt impressed/didnt see the point.
Was a Campag user at the time and maybe because it was so different I didnt take to it .
Like the new shape of Ultegra/DA but Sram is for me now their hoods are smaller and Srams very positive change.
Its quiter lighter and cheaper than Chorus although not quite as good looking.

Can you afford to replace it quickly when you crash?

If you are riding crits the probability of this happening are significantly increased, might not be your fault but odds on are that it will happen at some point and in a crash the bits that at most at risk are the shifters and the rear mech, and there is a big price difference between them!

Until the price of Di2 comes down significantly I will be racing mechanical groupsets.

    Shimano Ultegra 6800 Rear Derailleur - £40.99
    Shimano Ultegra 6870 Di2 Rear Derailleur - £139.99
Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!

Yep for Crits - don't race what you can't replace....

I'd swerve Di2 if I were you as well.
