Hopefully picking up a 2015 Giant Defy Advanced 1 tomorrow, going to get them to swap the standard 25mm tyres for some 28mm ones, anyone recommend something fast rolling, good in most conditions and relatively puncture resistant without being stupidly heavy?
Also looking for SPD or SPD-SL shoes and pedals, used MTB shoes and pedals before but the shoes were too flexible so I ended up with pins and needles after 20 or so miles, any reasonably priced recommendation please? Cheers.

Continental GP4000S II now come in 28mm, fit the bill nicely.0

Just got some Speedplay Zeros and Shimano R107 Shoes on PBK for £119!
The R107s seem great and the best thing is they take Road and MTB cleats.0 -
Michelin Pro4 Endurance in 28mm seem to get good reviews

I currently ride the Pro4 SC in 25mm and am planning to swap to the Endurance in 28mm when the Pro4's reach their limit.0 -
Thanks for the replies, hadn't thought about the Speedplay pedals, they could be exactly what I'm looking for.
As for tyres, think I'm looking at either Continental GP 4000 S II , Michelin Pro4 Endurance or Schwalbe Durano, see what my LBS have in stock.0 -

Why is that a good thing?0 -
Are you aware the Michelin Pro 4 tyres come up a bit bigger than the stated size? My 25mm Pro4 SC come up to about 27mm, and I don't use particularly high pressures. Nos sure how fat the 28's would actually be.
Would be worth checking that you have sufficient clearance...
Although if the LBS are fitting them, they'll be finding out soon enough.
If you're going to be riding the bike through the winter I'd recommend Conti GP 4 Seasons. I find they have very good grip in the cold and wet, and excellent puncture protection. They have become eye-wateringly expensive though.0 -
Just ordered the bike and they're going to build it up for me today, shoes, pedals and tyres are all expensive options from them so I'm getting my bike fit done with my current SPD pedals and shoes, hopefully the fit will make all the difference as I didn't get one last time, and buying 28mm tyres elsewhere them possibly some stiffer SPD shoes if needs be.0
