just bought a GIANT ATX PRO 18" frame.
question is what fork should i fit on it or what is the biggest travel to a fork that i could have without making it look stupid. keep in mind that the frame is for 26" wheels and straight 1 1/8" steerer fork.

Probably about whatever it came with. It's not a matter of looking stupid, it's a matter of snapping the frame and killing you.I don't do smileys.

Originally came with 100mm forks, you could probably get away with 120's, but I certainly wouldn't go longer than that.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I would stick with 100mm. It's an old fashioned style frame so I would want to raise the bottom bracket any higher than it already is.
Something like a Rockshox Reba would be ideal.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
