Do they reduce road 'zing' or does the internal Alu make it just like any other Alu stem?

Is the eXotic brand any good?

I've owned a couple and never noticed the different except a lighter wallet. eXotic is just rebranded stock parts from the Far East - cheap'n'cheerful
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Getting bigger and/or better tyres, plus reducing the PSI would probably be a better bet to reducing road buzz. I recently went from 25mm Gatorskins to 28mm GP4000 2s and notice a difference in ride quality.

I do ride my tyres slightly soft and as soon as these one's wear out, i'll probably be swapping to 28mm. I hear that the Vittoria Evo CX are like riding tubs and may go for a pair of 25mm Vittorias as I have not got a lot of clearance for 28's.
Running my Michelin's slightly soft has worn out the sidewall quicker than the rubber on top (slightly), so the benefits aren't always so good.

Crikey, how low a pressure were you using?? I frequently run my 25mm Pro4 SC at 75 rear 60 front and they appear to be wearing normally. i.e. the rear is starting to square off a bit. The front still looks like new.

It's not that, the roads around here are so bloody rough. I don't run them that soft. I'll take a pic of the sidewall if I can...

No point. I just cleaned the tyre and it was 2 streaks of a brown residue! Nonetheless, Pro 3's are a little soft but very grippy. Time to clean the rig methinks...

The Deda rep at the last Birmingham bike show told me that Deda didn't make a carbon stem as they consider them unsafe. Make of that what you will.

I was right, then I was wrong but found that I was right after all. No wear marks like this on the right (drive side) of the tyre:

You see, the prevailing Westerlies mean that to get a tail wind home, you have to go anti-clockwise most of the time. Going Clockwise will result in headwinds, seriously undermining the feel good factor.

Clockwise south instead of anti-clockwise North?
