Why would it be less accurate?
1/2" drive socket? Try a 3/8" drive one.

    From the images I can see for the pivot you have the outer 22mm socket and the inner 8mm hex. I have worked on cars with a similar top mount setup.
    From what I can see you need to locate the socket on the 22mm and clamp it using a set of mole grips. Then put the 8mm allen key through and nip it to stop the outer bolt rotating. You may need to apply pressure to the other side of it to help. Once its tightened slightly you should be able to torque it correctly.
