I'll be riding the BHF L2P next weekend and am looking for a lightweight, pocketable pair of waterproof overshoes, assuming that the great british-french weather will present us with at least a few showers along the 3-day route...

Has anyone got any experience with the Endura FS260 pro? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/endura/fs260-pro-slick-overshoe-ec036953

Thanks!

The Endura stuff is pretty good but don't expect them to keep your feet dry if it is wet. The soles have a couple of big holes to allow the cleats and heel to contact the pedals/ground. Water will simply splash up through them and into your shoes.

    Good luck.

Overshoes are rarely worth it in summer. They don't really work well and typical summer temperatures, even overnight, mean that your feet don't get cold even when wet.

    I'd forego them personally.

A dry pair of socks in your bag can be a good lift though.

Yeah I'd not bother. So long as its not cold - you dont need overshoes.

I don't mind getting wet feet but putting those wet shoes on again in the morning after is not something I particularly look forward to :-)

    Thx guys!

What kind of accommodation are you in?

Dry socks in wet shoes isn't as bad as you might think either - cold wet socks into wet shoes is as bad as you might think.

As long as it's warm, you can put up with more than you think. It's only 3 days, you shouldn't lose any toes or anything.

Velotoze. Your feet will cook if its not cold though.

These look like they might fit the bill! let's hope they stay in the pocket...

BTW for anyone wishing or willing to support the BHF, here's a link to my fundraising page: http://www.justgiving.com/Yair-Shahar-2015-L2P

These are what I use on mild wet days. Think I might of use them once over summer and feet did not overheat.

Anything waterproof enough to keep out rain will make your feet sweat like boil in the bag ham. You get wet either way. The benefit of the overshoes is the warmth IMO.

No overshoes and let your feet get wet, then at the end of the day pack your shoes with newspaper which absorbs the water and dries out your shoes, then chuck on a clean pair of socks and your away.

just remember to take the newspaper out of the shoes first.
Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!

These. Used on a warmish day (arm warmers to start then just Jersey/bibs) and they don't run hot. I had two hours in the rain before it cleared and my feet stayed dry.
