Seat post for oversized carbon rails.

I've been trying out the Specialized Toupe saddle and am convinced I'd like to get one. I have the opportunity to pick up a Specialized CVNDSH Collection S-Works Toupe Saddle with 7 x 9 mm carbon rails at a good price, but this will not be compatible with my current seat post (standard Cannondale CAAD 8 ) as far as I can tell. Can anyone recommend a compatible post that won't break the bank? This is all a bit new to me and I'm not sure where to start.

i don't have a post reccommendation, but something to look out for is that the post clamps to the rails top to bottom.
the 7mm measurement is the width of the carbon rail, this is standard so any post that clamps top to bottom should be ok.
the 9mm is the height of the carbon rail; most side clamping posts will be made to fit 7mm only as this is the most common size.
hope that helps.Canyon CFSL8

Yes thanks, that does help. I was under the impression that the posts were 9mm wide and would not be compatible with my top to bottom clamps. A closer read of the Specialized description confirms what you say - "
Oversized 7×9mm carbon rails are not compatible with seatposts equipped with side-load clamp mechanisms for 7mm round rails"
So it looks like my top to bottom clamps will be fine.
Thanks again.0 -
Thomson? surely they're made for MTBs with that industrial look ;-)
3T Dorico, Ritchey and Deda are all posts that I've used with carbon rails, if you use the Ritchey one bolt you'll need to change the rail clamp.0 -
I have an AX Lightness that has big chunky rails, 9mm all round I think, and it's a bugger to fit properly on my Use Alien carbon seatpost.0

No, they sell 4 different head clamps and I have the 9mm one.0
