Call notifications

Having managed to negotiate a cut in hours on the understanding that I am still available to take calls during the period I would be cycling home I am looking for the right 'thing' for call notifications. I don't want to do Bluetooth headset, but need to know the call is coming in and be able to stop to get the phone out of my pocket.
Does anyone know whether the forthcoming Garmin update will give call notifications to the 510 (any beta testers out there) or is it an excuse to buy a shiny new 520? Or, obviously any other options - but not really into iPhone on the handlebars.

I have the Edge 1000 which is meant to have this facility but have never once managed to get it working with my iPhone. A few others on the Garmin forums seem to have problems too. Having said that, it's not critical for me to get notifications of my GF asking why I've been gone for 2 hours when I said I'd be gone 30 mins so haven't spent too long on it so far. Maybe the 520 works better or other phones are more compatible but I wouldn't rely on it too much.0

Will I get that pass the missus though?!?0 -
Perhaps get a smart watch or one of the activity trackers with call notification. Say mio fuse, velo, etc. I think does this. Certainly the Microsoft band does the notification job.0

Or, obviously any other options.
Vivosmart alerts me by vibrating to emails, SMS, incoming calls and Whats App messages. I can briefly look at my wrist to see the message etc and not use my phone in work which is a no-no but everybody does it. I don't answer the phone straight away and go outside to return the call if needed.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

I use a Garmin Vivoactive to alert me of calls when I'm cycling, I find it handy as it's a silent vibrate that's very noticeable and I can check who's calling so I know if I need to quickly stop or not. Although I don't know how good the stability of the connection is with Apple devices.

I've got an original pebble watch that is just the job. I can't remember the last time I missed a call, and I don't think I've turned my ringer on once since I bought it last year. Fantastic thing. The new ones even look like proper watches. I use it for running too with my iPhone and cheap BT HR strap.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Microsoft Band. Self-contained tracking for shorter rides, decent fitness tracking features and full notification handling.0
