What wheels?

Hi,
I have recently bought a 1970's Puch Prima super 12 road bike. Inevitably, I would like to update a few bits. Hoping to improve the ride (as this is my only bike) I am in the market for a replacement wheelset. The current wheels are Steel so I think a new alu set would make a difference (breaking and performance).
The rear cassette is currently 6 speed (6 cogs) and this is a screw on cassette. The wheels are currently 700c size. The axle is also bolted on without quick release. The frame does give a bit so I do have a little bit of 'encouragement' space to fit the right wheel.
Please could you advise me on a good performance/strong wheelset I can get at an affordable price (under the £140 mark)...also where I could get this from?
I am not a bike expert so I was a bit worried about just getting something off the net incase I got the wrong size.
Many thanks,
Ross

Try Baldwins Cycles - they seem to list a variety of wheelsets that might fit the bill. For example

Might be worth measuring the width of your rear drop-outs to check if they are 120mm or 126mm and then call Baldwins to make sure what they have on offer will fit.0 -
Six speed will be 126 mm.
Sounds if that bike isn't worth spending >50 quid so try to find a used set of old skool wheels.0
