La Vuelta '15 #3 Mijas / Malaga **SPOILERS**
A stage for sprinters - well a stage for sprinters who can get over a 1st category climb and still be in contention. This stage seems tailor-made for Peter Sagan -- to come second again; but second to whom?
A section of 15pct seems designed to set up attacks - but with 80km to the finish from the summit surely no one will stay away

“Despite the blow, I went back on my bike, the race doctor has given first aid and with so much willpower I arrived at the finish line. Let’s see how it goes tonight, I’m not giving up.”
Hopefully, he will be able to continue in the race.

Mijas is lovely, although less so in tourist season.0 -

I was there in June, the new bit along the beach is like you say, granted, but we were in the old town and I though it was quite nice. Some nice old buildings and the castle is cool.
Only stayed there for a few days though, then got the train up to Ronda which is absolutely fantastic. Can't recommend it enough. Some stunning riding there too - I hired a bike and went up this and it was really very good indeed. Also the hotel we stayed at (proper old hippie place) had an unlimited free bar... Nice red wine too.0 -
8 riders 2m:25s off the front - highest placed is Berhane (+3m:02s)0

Think the city of Malaga itself is really nice - a big surprise when I went there a couple of years back. A lot of investment has clearly gone into the area from the old town to the cruise ship station. Airport was good and easy to get into the city. Old area full of great tapas bars and restaurants, Picasso museum, castle up on the hill, bullring, decent football team etc
La Malagueta is the beach area nearest the city which is nothing special but that's not really my scene anyway. If you head further east than this you get to Pedregalajo Playa which has a row of restaurants/bars right on the beach.
Stayed there for a week then used it again year later to bookend trip to Cordoba and Granada.0 -

Gizza shout when it gets interesting.
Watching fat Americans in suits get upset that China's triggering a 5% opening sell off on the Dow is more interesting at the moment .0 -
Should be starting climb any time now - Eurosport still showing highlights of yesterday (I don't have liveplayer).0
