Hi,

Can anyone explain what the main differences are between the kinesis Pro 6 and new 5T disc frames?

Weight and geometry look the same, both have mounts for rack and guards, available for about the same price if you shop around.

The only difference I can spot so far apart from colours is that the 5T can take up to 40mm tyres, with nothing specific said for the Pro 6...

Thanks.

Just had a quick look and the 5T has different routing for the rear caliper which is fitted inside the rear triangle, could make mounting guards easier. But you may be more likely to hit them with your heel. Forks look different, not sure how different they are in use. 40mm tyres will fit a Pro6 at a push, I've run 41mm but very tight at the back.

Thanks. Maybe they're pushing the 5T as more of an all-rounder than the more racy Pro 6?

Edit: just checking the geometry again, and the stack and reach are different, with the 5T being shorter and more upright.

There's more information on the 5T in the news section than in the specs. Though I think you are probably right. If it's of any use, when I had BB7s on my Pro6 I had to bend the mudguard stays to clear, now I have changed to a Parabox convertor with hydraulic calipers straight stays will clear the calipers as they are much slimmer. Stays still needed bending on the forks, but that may still apply to the 5T.
