I recently picked up a gopro and decided to record some footage, apart from the fall at the end. Have you guys got any tips for me?

Yeah, I only have a head mount at the moment, I'm just looking for any advice you can give on the lines I'm taking or just general tips. Not asking for anything detailed.0 -

Cornering and jumping are pretty bad but from on-board video it's impossible to say what you're doing wrong.
Video from the trail side would show what's wrong with your technique.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
It looks like you're slowing down a lot of the bumps, I may be completely wrong but it's what I can guess from the video. So I imagine you aren't moving with the terrain. I'm pretty new to this game and have
been concentrating on and found pumping to really make a difference to maintaining or even gaining speed over a bump in the track. May be something to try out0 -

Better angle, should be able to critique it a little better. I've definitely improved in my cornering but I'm still not confident enough to hit the table tops with enough speed to clear them...
Plus I didnt fall off...0 -
Still impossible to tell anything other than your cornering technique is pretty ropey and there's no jumping technique at all. As I said before, only trail side video will show exactly what you're doing wrong.
Its fairly obvious you're far too static on the bike, there's no effort to push the bike in to corners, can't see whether you're pumping the apex or whether you're in a neutral position.
For the jumps it's fairly obvious you are making no effort to actually jump. There appears to be no effort to pump the lip to get the bike off the ground.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Hard to tell from the clip, but definitely this:Its fairly obvious you're far too static on the bike
Which is why you're not carrying any speed in the corners and elsewhere0 -
Are you sitting on the saddle throughout?0

If you are concerned abpout your riding then I suggest you go to a professional trainer who can point out what can be improved and also how to improve your technique and as a result will up your game which I think is what you are looking for....take your pickelf on your holibobs....
jeez :roll:0 -
Watch pro riders - anything works but I think the best technique for the majority of us is to watch DH riders on the World Cup - body attitude on the bike, lean angles, foot position, how they are over the front of the bike at the start of the corner and pump/push bike through corners to generate speed - then go and practice some specific bits - dont expect to pick it all up in one go.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

Are you sitting on the saddle throughout?
that would be my questiontoo.
other thanthat, i wouldnt worry too much about it. watch some riding videos, pay attention to the direction the riders are looking would be my first suggestion, the bike will go where you are looking, (even when you are not looking at the right place!)
next off look at the riding position and pay attentionto how the riders move the bike relative to their own position.0 -

World cup DH riders are about the worst riders to watch. Their riding styles just wont work for riders with normal ability. I have ridden DH with a couple world cup racers and their style is just weird but it works because they have the ability to ride lines us normal riders can't.
A day with a good coach will do a lot for your technique. Pro Ride Guides at FoD are brilliant for lessons.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Decided to stick another video up since its been a few weeks, I've been up at the trails almost everyday and picked up a more suited bike. I'd say I've improved quite a bit, what do you think?

You are doing to much, do less. Don't try to ride the bike, just do it.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

Like I said before, it's very difficult to tell anything from on-board video.
Your line choice is terrible though and you obviously have problems with cornering and jumping.
A new bike won't make you ride better.
This video has some of the basic cornering techniques, work on getting this right and then build.
speed. There are more advanced cornering techniques for maintaining and building speed through corners but this is the starting point. Notice that he doesn't cut the inside of corners, thats quite important to avoid, it might work in a car on tarmac but not with a bike on dirt.

Have you considered some skills coaching? A half day session with a qualified coach can identify areas for improvement and will brush up your technique. It isn't expensive either.0
