Please help me choose a bike!

Looking to pick myself up a nice reliable MTB on finance...
It'll be used for BPW, general mountain and trail use.
My budget is to go no higher than £1800...I'm struggling to choose cause there's so many bikes out there and I'm also finding myself going for looks over anything else.
I've had a good look into the Vitus Sommet VR and Vitus Escarpe VRS they seem to be great value but there's not much info out there about them?
Also the GT Force Sport X 2015 at £1574.99 I really like the look of this bike but don't know if it's overkill!
Basically I just want value for money cause who wouldn't ?! if any members here can give me some suggestions or point me in the right direction that would be awesome as I'm looking to place an order in the next week or so.
Another I was looking at was the Giant Trance 2 2015 but after seeing the MBR review on it, it kinda put me off having only 6/10.
I sure hope someone can help and thanks in advance!

You say it will mostly be used at BPW but do you ride the black trails and pro lines and do you jump the bigger gaps?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Pretty much a noob at the moment mate but definitely looking to progress.
I just want to get myself something that's gonna be quality and good kit.
I will happily spend up to £1800 also0 -
Entry level mondraker Foxys can be had for that sort of cash, not the best in terms of kit for the money but the frames ride incredibly well and are worth upgrading bits and bobs as you go. I've down a few uplifts on my Foxy and it's taken everything in its stride. I'd also look at the likes of Nukeproof and Bird if you want good value for money. Foxy is a stunning all rounder so would get my vote, but there's plenty of other solid bikes out there, so shop around and see what takes your fancy!0

I would suggest either the Nukeproof Mega TR Race or Giant Trance

Both are excellent to ride. I had a Mega TR and used it for everything from epic xc rides to enduro races and uplift days. The Giant has got one of the best rear suspension designs and frames the is. Very good build for the price as well.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Was just checking this one out as you posted...

have my size in stock also0 -
Giant trance, don't always take it for granted a review means a bike is rubbish, it could be scored low just down to crap tyres or pedals. Always look at why it scores low. Trance is ideal and available discounted if you go for older models, bird is also good but supply not always the fastest.
I do like the Trance 2 2015...black/blue actually like the look of the bike also.
But isn't the nukeproof better value for money? Found it cheaper than the giant too...that's what I mean I see a new bike every day online and that screws up my decision further0 -
I accidentally copied the link text instead of the address where I suggested the Trance.

This is excellent value. Carbon wheels at under £2k and the rest is pretty good as well. Much better than the Trance 2.
Forget about looks, it's all about how it rides.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
For a noob to mountain biking I've always been of the opinion that its best to get a good quality hardtail.. first!
You get a much better spec and its much better to learn to ride well. Then when your more into it, by all means go ahead and purchase a full susser...
Whyte 905 hardtail! It matters not, win or lose, it's how you ride the bike0 -

I'm definitely getting a full sus mate
Been looking at the norco range 7.1 alloy too which looks fairly good for the money?0
