Hi,

Looking for opinions on the following bike…

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/eastway-r30-tiagra-2015/

I currently ride a single speed (Langster) which I am very happy with, however there are a couple of local sportives I am keen to ride in next year (Wiggle New Forest & Southdowns). So feel I need to add a bike with gears to my collection.

I stumbled across this bike in my search and for the money seems to suit my needs and unlike most bikes in this price range has full Tiagra group set, rather than Sora or Claris/ FSA mixture I see on most others around £400 - £500.

So, any opinions?

Don't know how it would ride, though as you say has full Tiagra, apart from the brake calipers which could be long drop as spec. says frame has mudguard and rack mounts. Only comment I have on the spec is swop the 11-28 for a 12-30 if you are doing hilly sportives, and buy some better quality T.P.I. folding tyres.

That's a fair bit of bike for the money but don't buy it just because of the Tiagra. Theres nothing wrong with a well set up Sora groupset, albeit one gear less.

Its quite a heavy bike and while you would gain slightly on hills with a 30 tooth cassette, the one it comes with is decent for climbing most things - and there's nothing too major on the sportives you mention.

I would probably swap the tyres out but thats just me.
