How many miles would you expect to get out of a front and rear tyre through general wear?

Rider: 12st.
Normal UK roads, dry mostly.
Avg 16 mph, Max 25 mph.
Mid price range tyre.

A few thousand - but never really paid attention. You can wreck one with a nasty puncture or run it down to threads. Pure luck I guess.

Roughly 2.5k from a rear and 7.5k from a front. Michelin Pro4, Vittoria open Corsa and Conti 4000s used over the last 3 or 4 years.

I usually run Continental Gatorskins (which I'd say are low to mid priced?) and I recently had to replace the rear which had done around 4500 miles (and some Turbo Trainer use).

The front, other than odd little nicks from sharp stuff (glass etc) had almost no wear on it and had been used for the same mileage as the rear.

Switched the old front onto the rear and stuck the new one on the front.
