Best of the outgoing 2015 crop for commuting?

I'd like something which can be used for fitness and general pleasure riding. The odd possible commute will only be done in fair weather however it can often be fair in the morning but foul by leaving time.
I'm thinking a comfortable road bike ie non race geometry focussed, disc brakes would be a bonus but only because I'm used to them from the MTB. I've been looking at the Giant defy Alu series, the planet X RT58 neither of which have discs.
Budget somewhere from £500-750, probably buying new.
thanks!

Rutland Cycles have some ex-demo bikes on offer at the moment. Just within your budget is this Giant Revolt 2015 in a medium size. They also have it in a medium/large as an ex demo offering

I'm sure if you do a more detailed search there will be plenty of good offers out there as dealers try to shift 2015 stock before the 2016 models arrive0 -
Planet X London Road would be my choice for a do it all bike were I buying one now. Disk brakes, clearance for fatter tyres, takes guards and rack. Looks to be pretty robust for commuting duties.0

Take a look at Evans Cycles because they often put their end of season sales on around this time. The same with Wheelbase in Staveley (also mail order) which is the biggest bike store in the UK apparently.
Another option could be the PlanetX London Road. It is a chunky tyre, comfort orientated road/gravel bike that has its fans. I own a Tiagra groupset version but they do a lot of SRAM ones too. It does have 700x37 tyres on but you could always change them to something a bit slicker and not as wide. At least it is a tough bike to take the commute.0 -
Just picked up a Pinnacle Arkose 4 from Evans for commuting duties, 11 speed 105 & hyd discs for a grand, pretty decent dealKeep on Smilin - Makes people wonder what you have been upto!0

Thanks for that, had seen it on the website but assumed it was a CX type. I've no offroading to do at all, and I've the MTB if i do find somewhere interesting Worth considering.
I think a roadie with 28mm will be sufficient. Which one remains to be seen, the more I think about it the more I actually would prefer disc brakes too.0 -

Bargain for what it is but I don't have that to spend, I've to leave aside a couple of hundred for new gear, helment and shoes etc and our work doesn't offer cyclescheme so I'll be paying up front.0 -
I think I'd go for one of these...
