Genesis Croix de Fer 20 vs Giant TCX SLR 2

Sorry guys but this is another "What should I buy thread".
I'm currently torn between the Genesis Croix de Fer 20:

And the Giant TCX SLR 2:

I had a Genesis Croix de Fer back in 2010 and loved it but eventually sold it to make way for 29er hardtail. Now I'm after a new bike for commuting (maybe this should be in the commuting section?). My commute is just over 12 miles and about 50% off road through the woods.
I'll also use this bike for long day rides (around 100 miles) over mixed terrain.
So let's hear it, between the two, what would you chose and why?
Thanks
(B2W and limited to EBC so no point suggesting anything from other shops or over £1k.)
