It's not a good bike. The fork is one of the worst there is.
Can you buy from Decathlon? Their Rockrider bikes are excellent budget bikes.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Unfortunatley I cant buy from Decathlon. I wont be jumping and riding real bumpy tracks, it will be an all terrain bike (town and dirt, no jumping and bumps0
-
Is that a spring or air fork? How can i know that a fork will fit on that bike if i go to replace it?0
-
A reasonable fork will cost half the price of the bike again. For this total outlay there are many more bikes to choose from.
If you are just doing Tarmac and unmetalled road you would be better off with wide tyre on a hybrid, no suspension at all, and save 2kg.
Genesis bikes are ok though.0 -
That fork is one of the worst. It's very heavy, completely uncontrolled damping, no torsional rigidity and give it a few months and it will be dead anyway. A rigid fork would be far better.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Which fork should I replace it with so it fits?
Im asking because im a total newbie0 -

This is very sound advice, the rockriders are on sale at the moment and very well speced for the price.0 -
If you plan on replacing the fork immediately, just buy a better bike to start with.I don't do smileys.

No, i plan to replace it when this one goes bad. So which one should I get (air suspension and not too expensive)0 -
I'm now hoping this is going to be an entertaining thread.
Quick clear answer to the question, OP doesn't want to hear it.0 -

The cheapest worthwhile air forks cost half as much as the bike again and that Suntour XCM will go bad (it's no good to start with) in no time. I have seen them seize in weeks.
Why does it have to be this bike? There are loads better. What country are you in?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I live in Croatia, and I cant buy online because i cant pay in rates with my credit card (stupid bank)0
-
Look for another bike with at least a Suntour XCR, Raidon or Epicon fork or a Rockshox XC30, XC32 or Recon fork. You should be able to get one.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Just so I know, how will i see when it starts to go bad?0

It will go from being cr4p, to being more cr4p.I don't do smileys.

And please explain what you said in more detail.0 -
It is already a bad fork, as has been explained. there is no damping - so nothing to control the movement. it tops out - so clunks like mad. It is extremely heavy. It is a poor excuse of a fork that should not be anywhere near a bike and will ruin your riding experience.0

If that's the only option you have then it doesn't make any difference.
But why can't you buy from Decathlon?
Cheaper, better.

Okay, can someone tell me what specs do i need to look for in a fork to fit this bike?0
-
- 29er (700c)
- 100mm travel
- 1 1/8 inch straight steerer
- 9mm quick release dropouts
- post mount0 -
And hydraulically damped.I don't do smileys.

So lets ignore that fork and think that the Rock Shox 30 Gold TK is mounted. Is it good now ?0

Better.....the fork is only just above the acceptable minimum but still much heavier than a rigid fork that would suit your purposes.
If you are swapping the fork have a look at the Mosso rigid forks, very light (over 1.5Kg saving over the XCM) and with enough 'give' to take the sting out of bigger bumps.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

I will get the Rock Shox because me and my buds decided to ride every 2 days for a longer distance which means i will get to rougher terrain.0 -

It's a reasonable comment. The fork is dreadful to start with, it's literally a spring in a tube so it's noisy, uncontrolled, kicks back horribly, dives horribly and wallows badly.
Actually, thinking about it, they usually sieze solid which would be an improvement!Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
If the bike cost half as much as it's advertised for, it might be worth considering, but it doesn't.
For the money it's blooming awful, you can get something like what I have for half the price, like a carrera vengeance, which has given me approaching 2000 miles of happiness and just as much swearing.
The only problem is that particular bike is approximately 200% over priced!0 -
On a more serious note, you might be worth considering paying shipping fees on something better if your local options are limited, many online bike shops will ship international, for a cost obviously, but that bike is terrible for the money.0

I get the impression he would still buy this bike if someone produced evidence to prove that it would give him herpes.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
