Hello! I'm new to the forum.
I've been riding 1981 Schwinn Le Tour that i bought in college back in 2013, but now that I've graduated I'm looking to buy a lighter bike since i bike 13 miles to work.
I found a K2 Mod5 ULTEGRA / DURA-ACE for $700 on craigslist.
I've checked out the bike and there were tiny bits of rust, tires were flat (probably not having air) and the chain needed some oil, but otherwise it looked like it was in good condition. But then again I am not very knowledgeable regarding bikes.
The seller told me it's about 2 years old and only have 100-200 miles on it. He also has brother candy 2 pedals.
I'm wondering if i am making a good choice buying this bike at this price. I'm on the fence since 700 is a lot considering I just graduated from college. However, would it be a good choice to buy it since I do plan on biking across the U.S.?
If you have any other recommendations, it would be awesome to hear them.
Thank you for your advice,
J

Ultegra has had cables under the tape for what five years or so now ? So it's not a 2 year old bike.
Does it fit you ?
It's probably stolen or something. I'd buy from a dealer personally. 105 is perfectly serviceable.0 -
@Cougie
Yeah i think you are right. The bike is 2006 but i think he said he has been using it for about 3 years.
It fits me nicely.
Still could you give an opinion on whether this is a good buy?0 -

I am not American so forgive me and I do not know who the reputable bike retailers are, however, I found this on my first search result:
http://www.jensonusa.com/Road-Bikes/Giant-Bikes-Defy-2-Bike-2014
It is a far better option than the bike you have looked at:
1. Brand new.
2. Covered by warranty.
3. Updated groupset.
4. Parts won't need replacing straightaway.0
