It's free? You only pay for the Premium membership. With basic you can create your own routes and download to your device.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

One thing to be wary of with RidewithGPA is that it doesn't recognise private roads. We've fallen foul of a mad woman farmer who claimed we were trespassing on her land. OS maps when checked later did indeed confirm her claims. Strava and some other sites don't show private roads or allow you to select to avoid them.

Could that be you're route planning is set up for cycling, if you change it to driving that normally gets rid of most of those errors. I also drag the little street view man over the route, if a part doesn't highlight in blue I know it's not a public highway.

The routing depends on the type (car/bike/walk) and the maps used. Maybe you should change your settings to see if another map type etc avoids private roads.

Swings and roundabouts then. You may miss out on cycle only routes when car or motorcycle is selected.

+1, always check my routes with the streetview man and no problem with being taken off road. RWGPS every time for me, the best planner by a mile and no need to go for the paid version. Plotaroute has a good feature for finding new routes of a certain distance as well.

I signed up a year or so ago; it's a tenner isn't it? It was ok for seeing all the added-value interpretations of the source data for a while, but I've hardly used it this year. It's worth it if you think a tenner for a year's worth of looking at stats & representations of your rides is worth it. If you pay it, will you miss that tenner a few months down the line?

I think "advanced warning" on turn-by-turn navigation is a premium feature - I've never sussed if that's definitely the case when dumping routes on my Garmin 800 though?

If you run a club or organise events, Premium is worth it. As a normal user, it isn't. Use the free version instead.

Automatic advance warning course points is a premium feature. Of course if you don't use course points it is not very useful. Also, you can always manually add course points anywhere you like in the free version.
