Hi guys and girls

Going down to London to Swift Cycles to purchase a Focus Izalco max. Managed to get a good deal with a free Retul bike thrown in. Its the full 2 sided fit worth £250

I was wondering if anyone has ever had any experience with Retul and if it is worth it

Cheers

I think it depends on who does it. The retul technology is just a tool.

The guy who did mine was fixated on having a flat footed pedal stroke with the cleats pretty much in my arches, and on having even knee movement at the expense of everything else. With my ankle that was never going to be sensible. Anyway, apart from that he came up with the exact bike fit I have him in the first place. Since the cleat position and flat style actually hurt, I ended up paying to be told that my old position was just fine.

My old position was eyeballed by an elderly Italian frame builder in about 5 minutes, 15 years earlier.

My take? A retul fit is fine, but no substitute for common sense and experience.

I had a Retul fit at Swift when I bought a Focus there a couple of years ago. It was thorough and very good - the fitter went into a lot of detail and made many small adjustments as well as larger ones. As a result the bike fits me like a glove and I have been comfortable on it ever since.

It's definitely worth it, especially as you're getting it thrown in for free. :D
    Shut up, knees!

I have had a basic fit and it was alright.. had a retul and it was very thorough. As above, lots of little adjustments and some bigger- I am now far comfier on the bike and can ride further pain free. Also, it does have a lot to do with the fitter.. mine asked about cycling history, injury etc.. best £150 I have spent!

I had a retul fit 2 years ago and cant recommend it highly enough.
In my case the position on the bike was altered quite significantly and, whilst it did take a couple of weeks to get used to, the new position became very comfortable and i started breaking all my pb's. I found i could climb in the saddle faster, and generally hold a higher speed whilst on the flat. Above this though, the new position has cleared up a long standing back problem, no more back pain after long rides!

As others have said though, ultimately it does depend on the fitter. Retul is only a program and like any pc software, get someone who doesn't understand it properly and the fit is compromised.

Excellent. Hopefully i will have someone who knows what they are doing!
