It is interesting to note that the 2016 Cannondale Scalpel range has not been announced along with Cannondale's other 2016 announcements this August.

I suspect (but no evidence) that Cannondale are trying to push other mountain bikes in the range, especially the new Habit before releasing the Scalpel in a December / January time frame.

Interested if anyone has any information.

    I've been looking at the Scalpel for a while now. Seems like there is better bikes for the price range though?

    What is everyones thoughts on the "lefty" - Is it a bit gimmicky or really makes a big difference?

    The reason I like this bike is as follows;

    1) I am buying this for long range endurance events such as the Cape Epic. This bike is a popular 29" choice for such events.

    2) Lefty is not a gimmick. I have ridden the lefty in endurance events and compared to Fox and the like, I find them more rigid for steering and just a better ride.

    3) In conversations with dealers, discounts of 10% - 20% are not too difficult.

    4) They are different.

    I just got a 2013 Cannondale F29 1 with a lefty. Definitely feels a tad more rigid than my rockshocks I used to use. Looks weird when you look down but that soon passes after a couple rides. Had its first 20 mile run on Sat up the hills and the shock coped really really well. I'd definitely recommend it. Every bike shop I spoke to prior to getting it were all trying to put me off one but I stuck to my guns as I'd always fancied trying it. Glad I did.

    I've seen people saying theyre a nightmare for servicing - I doubt theyre any more trouble than regular forks although places that service them may be thin on the ground where you live so def something to check out too.

    Plus it makes the bike look like the 1% - I'd much rather that myself than the same as everyone else.
