Quick tyres question (I have no idea with these things lol)

Just wondering if someone could possibly answer what is most likely a stupid question but I just want to make sure. I have a Rockrider 8.1 and want to get back into using it, will mostly be on the road commuting with the odd bit of off roading so have been looking at some 'slick' type tyres. Continental Touring Plus Reflex, Schwalbe Marathon to name a couple. My question is, my current tyres are Michelin XC 26x2.0, will a set of 26x1.75 fit ok on the rim or would the replacement tyre have to be exactly the same measurement? I know it's probably a stupid question but wanted to make sure before forking out 40 quid for a couple of tyres.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Cheers pal, appreciate it. Riding on roads on the Michelin tyres is crap beyond belief.0 -
A 1.5" or 1.2" slick will be fine as well, Decathlon do a cheap 1.2" slick, or a Schwalbe City Jet is a good budget option in 1.5", better are available for more money though.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
