Hi all,

I've only just registered here as I could do with some help. I haven't been involved in cycling for a long time and am looking at getting back into it. Nothing crazy just some nice cycling on tracks for now as a bit of a hobby. Maybe going for some more challenging routes as I get my confidence and fitness up.

My ignorance of the products out there means I don't know if the one I'm looking at represents good value. it was all v-brakes back in my day & now everything seems to have disc brakes.

I've spotted a Giant Talon 27.5 (M) for sale. It's a hard-tail and is on at £400. It's got a black & white frame, black rims with light blue/turquoise highlights. Not sure if the paint gives away the year or anything like that?

I've had a quick look on Google and there is a huge range of prices (anywhere from £379 to £1,749) so not sure whether this is a good deal or not. I recognise the Giant brand from when I was a youngster and helped in the now-defunct family cycle shop but I'm that out of touch I need a bit of advice.

The bike itself has apparently only been used a handful of times & was bought this year. Owner bought it to "get fit" and quickly gave up so is now getting rid. I've uploaded the picture I was sent if that helps to identify it - anything else I should ask to help understand if it's worth the asking price?

Ask the seller what model/year it is and what components (shifters, mechs, brakes, forks etc) it has. From that somebody on here with more knowledge of Giant bikes should be able to tell you if it's worth it.

Are you sure that's a medium. Looks a bit tiny to me.

That's what they said to me. No reason to disbelieve them but likewise haven't been round to see it personally, yet. Couple of different sizes in this model:

Had a look and I think it's a Giant Talon 5.0. Best price I could find new is £800 in sale so £400 isn't bad if they're saying it's like new.

    I think it's a Talon 27.5 0.
Seems like a decent price. There will be a sticker on the frame with the size marked on it, usually on the seat tube.

Thanks both. It's definitely a medium so I will go and look at it today now I know the price is reasonable. Looking forward to getting back in the saddle after a long period of health trouble!!
