New Bike - How soon to 1st Chain Lube?

assuming dry roads with little if any dust how many miles before you would clean & lube the chain(Ultegra)? Still looks clean and changing is slick after 200 miles...

unless i had a really wet/dirty ride i'd think about it at 500-1000km and maybe do it at 1000-2000km, or longer

i always fit kmc link so it's easy to remove/wipe/refit the chain

Mine's got over 300 miles on and is still slick and quiet. Reckon I'll get to at least 500 if it stays dry. It's a KMC X11

I can only dream of that on my MTBs

this thread is alien to me

I degrease and re-lube my chain often and it's black again after about 30 miles

^a lot of that is because of the lube. Sticky lube in the outside of the chain just attracts muck.

A new chain has the factory applied stuff and it seems to do a nice job of keeping the chain quiet but the internals lubricated.

I fitted a new chain and cassette about a month ago and it's still looking good - about 500 miles so far.
