New Gears or New Bike

After chatting to a few people on Sunday, I'm coming around to the merits (and the overall coolness) of Ultegra Di2 gears.
In an ideal world I'd get a shiny new bike (possibly with these new fangled disc brakes) but I can't see me getting that past the spending approvals committee. So, has anyone fitted them, how easy is it to do and will I need loads of experience and tools.
I've got a 2014 Giant Defy Advanced 0 frame which comes with Di2 out of the factory so everything should be set up to take the components.
