SRAM S40 Spokes

I was driving along with my SRAM s40 wheels on the back seat of the car, there was a crack and I new right away that a spoke had popped. Sure enough it had. I have never heard of this happening. Has anyone else had problems with these?

    if you do a google search about sram spokes you'll find umpteen pages on the subject, either: they sold a lot of wheels; or, there's a disproportionate number of owners reporting issues; or, they're prone to broken spokes; i'd bet the latter

    i still have some s30s that popped a spoke after just a few months, limped home and had a close look then noticed the hub was showing signs of fatigue, they replaced the wheel under warranty with no quibble, but i now keep them as 'just in case' spares
