RIP
- 80 phone directories
- dodgy brakes
- speed (though the hill and the two hazards listed above can't have helped)
- no helmet (just to make it interesting)
- speed bump (interesting that a designed-in "hazard" was not implicated)

I hate the news and its lack of detail. 80 directories? At once? Carried how?My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Phone directories are nowhere near as big as they used to be, Back in the day of the full size one I used to carry 60 in two newspaper type delivery bags, 80 of the modern ones would probably fit in one bag.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

You could be right about the speed bump - would seem pointless to have mentioned it in that case thoughROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
What a shame.
I've noticed that a lot of the elder generation who cycle don't bother with any safety equipment, such as helmets or reflective clothing.
This is more the "about towners" rather than the club/touring riders.0
