RIP

- 80 phone directories
- dodgy brakes
- speed (though the hill and the two hazards listed above can't have helped)
- no helmet (just to make it interesting)
- speed bump (interesting that a designed-in "hazard" was not implicated)

I hate the news and its lack of detail. 80 directories? At once? Carried how?

"she was seen going down a hill quite quickly towards a speed bump and then came down." maybe because she hadn't yet got to it and it wasn't at all relevant?

Phone directories are nowhere near as big as they used to be, Back in the day of the full size one I used to carry 60 in two newspaper type delivery bags, 80 of the modern ones would probably fit in one bag.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

You could be right about the speed bump - would seem pointless to have mentioned it in that case though

  • What a shame.

I've noticed that a lot of the elder generation who cycle don't bother with any safety equipment, such as helmets or reflective clothing.
This is more the "about towners" rather than the club/touring riders.
