Removing Shimano Press Fit BB
Hi all,
I'm attempting to drift out the BB86 on my bike using a flat head screwdriver and a hammer but as it stands all I seem to have done is dented a lot of plastic. I'm loathe to spend £30 on the Park tool. Any advice? I'm close to giving up and going to a shop because I need the bike for the weekend.
Thanks,

Could you use a short length of 40mm plastic/nylon tubing (like a sink waste pipe) to drift it out evenly?Wilier Izoard XP0

Yep, I had success doing this. Cut some slots in it a la the real tool, worked a treat but was only really a one time use thing.0 -

Off to B&Q now for some tubing and a hacksaw! Will report back2012 Cube Agree GTC0 -
So far. Not so good. Plastic tube just came straight out with how hard I'm having to hit it. Metal tube not even making a difference. This thing was pressed by Goliath2012 Cube Agree GTC0

How are you hitting it?
In a workstand?
Knocking out some bb30 bearings on a frame some while back, I had to take wheels off and place frame flat over some wooden block supports in order to get some wellie into the drifting out with the hammer.0 -
It was stood on its bars and saddle but I've now got it on its side with some boxes under either side of the bb.
Not sure how much more welly I dare it with though as its carbon2012 Cube Agree GTC0 -
Well supported you should be able to get a controlled drift, being firm handed. As long as you dont clatter the frame with the hammer it will be fine.0

Think I'm going to have to find a LBS tomorrow. Broke my plastic pipe drift I was hitting it so hard.2012 Cube Agree GTC0

I hope the previous person hasn't bonded it in with anything silly.
This is currently my fear.2012 Cube Agree GTC0
