What do London councils do with abandoned bikes?

As in those chained to railings and left to fester by owners who no longer want them or can remember where they've left them.
Do they go straight in the bin or are they donated to charity or something?
Asking as I might be interested in acquiring one for a project

In Camden we have a strict 1 hour policy. Where by it is assumed you no longer want your bike and it is removed by a young entrepreneurial type. I myself have fallen foul of this strict code of practice
Pino is quite right though, anyone with a good cutting device and mode of transport can join in the redistribution project!Cannondale caad7 ultegra

I work in Camden borough and glad I get to park mine in the underground car park for our office...
@the OP - I reckon the policy will vary by council so best contact yours and ask."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0
