Been out for a decent ride with the club, now doing jobs :( cars washed, hedges finished and now clean the patio - so rock and roll :(
  • Afternoon Losers!

Had some dinner in M&S as usual, and now just chillaxing until the usual evening shenanigans.

    Laters!

    Afternoon gimps,

Crappy day at work- at least there's only 12 hours left to go.

Not helped by my dad sending me pictures of him playing golf in the Seychelles. He is a dick sometimes.

If I get through today without punching someone in the face I will take that as a victory.

if every day is a war, every time someone should have got punched in the face but didnt, is a battle won. That said, sometimes an effective defence is an offence and a show of strength can pave way to a more swift completion of hostilities.

So, go and punch a lot of people then storm in to the bosses office, get your obvious and necessaries out, way it all in his face, say literally nothing, then take an early knock and go home.

    you can thank me later.

I'm just walking myself but if that's what floats your boat!

    Good day gimps,

I have golfed, goosed and baconed. These are all wins.

Tv and walking until dinner out at some friends tonight where I shall be a drunken bore.

    Toodles.

    Afternoon Gimboids,

Been quiet in here for ages, think we need a recruitment drive to get more idiots. Been doing jobs including fettling The Bruiser ready for Wales at the end of the week. Now playing Dad's taxi sitting in a car park while Stropteen rides horses, and listening to the footy on the radio.

    Tomorrow is work unfortunately...

    Sheeps,

Gaz kinda faded away over a year ago - think he burned out a bit after producing so many comedy classics like the 12 days of Crudmas. Yeehaa - no idea, came back again after a ban an started posting like he used to (ferkin loads) than just disappeared. A few of the other regulars like Kev and Waylander are still around but a lot less often. The women mostly disappeared after pulling blokes and getting luvved up, though foxc has come back again.

We're going to Bike Park Wales for some uplift action.

Top place and you can do it on a decent trail bike. No pedalling trails though.

I getcha. To be fair, i am guilty of having abandoned the place. I think the place is a bit more wholesome now and that is probably no bad thing. was fun the old way (although i didnt know the oldest MBUK forum days)

As for BPW, i was reading about it last night, it is a new thing since i stopped ridng a while back. You say it is trail bikeable, i take it that is just the stuff up to the red trails? the new bike has 180mm of travel so it should carry me down most stuff. im very much a wheels on the ground kind of rider theough, not regained confidence in drops and the likes.

I coudnt really understand when reading the site, is it all downwards riding?

I have a sneaky suspicion that foxc is my neighbour so I wouldn't count on her her being around for much longer

BPW is all downhill - apart from a pump track and the kids trail. There's an all uphill trail if you're a proper masochist and don't want to take the van to the top, but that literally just goes from the pick up point to the top of the hill. Sod that, I pay my £30 and get the van up like most people.

A decent long travel trail bike will handle almost any of the trails there - 180mm will be fine for the blacks, it's more about what you can handle. I'm doing it this Friday on a 160mm bike. If you're still a bit twitchy about jumps n drops, just stick to the blues and reds - all rollable (you can even roll most of the blacks if you get off and walk a few times). There are some really good parts where you can practice getting air - there's one red that is just a mile of jumps but you can roll the lot if you just control your speed - have a gander at the A470 line on the website and there's a video on it that'll give you an idea.

That said, it's pretty tough on bikes - matth h and pesky have come along with us before on hardtails :) and both had to quit early due to various combinations of farked spokes/brakes/multiple flats. If you fancy a crack at it sometime I can let you know next time we're going, there may be a few other takers who haven't done a lot of DH stuff before?

Is that 'cos you're going to pull her, or bury her in a ditch? (Or both)

Stevo, cheers for the heads up.

I like the sound of it and i get the impression you can build up to the more challenging stuff. if it is possible to roll a lot of the stuff iwill encounter i will atleast have the confidence to give some stuff a go.

The only thing i am conscious of is being completely webtex and holding people up.

Do you go there and back in a day or stay over?

That's what I like about it - you can work your way up to the tricky stuff and if you go with people who know it they can give you a few top tips about what runs to do and what to look out for. No big shakes waiting a bit, there's a fire road about half way down where you change trails as most don't go all the way down. Or you just go down different trails and meet half way down / at the van. We just sit there and talk bollox till everyone is accounted for :)

You can do it a day at a push but setting off from Bromley means being on the road about 5am so we usually drive down the afternoon before, stop in a B&B about a half hour drive away and head down the pub. Makes for a good mini break that way.

Next one after this week is provisionally 2nd Oct if we can get the pink slips sorted out...
