the shopping spree continues... found out today that my chain has stretched... no surprises as i havent replaced it since i got the bike!
my current chain is... KMC X10 10sp

looking at wiggle for 10sp chains i can see theres a few different options..
i dont mind buying the best and lightest out there but im uncertain about the chain specifics... ie number of links / pin length ...
the gold and silver one have the following specs...
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x10-sl-silver-10-speed-chain/
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x10-sl-gold-10-speed-chain/
1/2” X 11/128” - 114 Links
pin length 5,88 mm

but this one here has different specs
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x10-ept-10-speed-chain/
1/2" x 3/32" - 116 links, pin length 7.1mm

says that they are all compatible with 10sp... so i dont really get what the difference means... performance?
anybody know much about chains?
thanks!

Makes no difference. You'll have to shorten the chain down to your current chain length either way (unless your current length is 114 or 116 obviously). Pin length doesn't affect anything but weight (they'll both work).

7.1-7.3mm is the pin width of KMC 7/8 speed chains.

I would recommend these too, however be aware that if the chain is really stretched you might need a new cassette as the new chain could jump on the teeth of the cassette as both will have worn in together.

how bad is the chain as you could still use it a bit more and then just buy a new chain and cassette later on?

Yeh I agree, I fitted an albeit 9 speed kmc x. 93, only to get massive skipping, if the chain is too far gone there's a high chance your cassette is too. A new cassette sorted that out.
Fit the new chain and see how it goes. If it skips like mad you may need a new cassette too.
On the plus side, front chain rings seem to be a bit more robust so you should be OK for now.

I would maybe shy away from buying uber expensive chains, and cassette for that matter as they are very much wear and tear items, the kmc 93 seems well regarded and is a decent price.
