Canyon Nerve AM - Bent frame.

Hi, one of my riding buddies has unfortunately bent/twisted the rear end of his Canyon Nerve AM. The bike is about 4 years old now and it looks like both the chain and seat stays are out of shape, the rear wheel needs lots of force to turn it.
He has just sent it back to Canyon, and it seems that its still under warranty (although has to wait for an assessment to find out if its going to be covered or not). Has anyone on here sent back a Canyon with a similar situation, and what was the end result.
His bike is of course the 26" model, do Canyon tend to keep a stock of older frames and parts for warranty purposes, or is he more likely going to be offered something out of the current range if the warranty / crash replacement claim is successful?
Thanks.

Aluminium frames rarely bend, they just break. More likely a damaged hub judging by that photo.
I have heard of quite a few Canyon frames failing, I know one lad on his third Strive frame on an 18 month old bike. They usually just crack or snap.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Or is the wheel just out of dish?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Nope, its not the wheel, 100% a frame issue (another friend has the exact same bike and they swapped wheels to check)...0

I never got to inspect the bike myself as it was boxed up and sent back to Canyon before i saw my buddy, but a LBS did take a look and they confirmed (along with the wheel swap) that its a chain stay (and maybe seat stay) issue.
Does anyone have any experiences of warranty claims with Canyon?0 -
My mate is his third frame from Canyon. If it's broken and within the terms of the warranty then expect a new one in four to six weeks.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
