I am currently converting a vintage Raleigh to single speed.
I am going to purchase a Sturmey Archer crankset and now need some help on a freewheel.
I am looking at both these:

please can anyone help on whether they are compatible???
thanks

Without knowing what type of wheel you are fitting the freewheel to, it's impossible to answer.0

If the wheel previously had a freewheel for a derailleur, then a single speed freewheel wont sit in line (the wheel would have been dished for a wider cog-set). You'd ideally need a track/singlespeed wheel.
If you had a wheel with a cassette freehub, then there's spacers you can get to place the single sprocket in the right position on the freehub, but freewheels are trickier.0 -
ah I see. its a freewheel but was a wider, multi speed, freewheel.
so I guess I now need to look at a new wheel then.
that's not what I wanted to hear
thanks for the advice.0 -
so I bought a track wheel in the end. I also ended up buying a new bb to get a better chain line.
I have bought a sturmey archer freewheel also, following advice from a few people, including a lbs.0
