Bike Storage

Hi Guys

I have a Bianchi Road bike with Campagnolo Bullet Wheels and I am thinking of buying a Specialized Venge or Bianchi Oltre later this year.

I have a shed in my back garden but this also has my daughters bike and various scooters so I won't be able to fit 2 adult bikes in the shed without the risk of the wheels being damaged or the bike themselves being damaged.

I have been watching youtube videos about the evoc bike boxes/cases and wondered if anyone used these for home storage as it would mean I could keep this in the house of in the shed and cut down on the risk of damaging my bikes.

Unfortnately missus won't let me keep the bikes in the house.

Anyone any thoughts?

Another option might be something like this depending how much room you have in your garden

Maybe a bit more expensive than you're wanting to pay?? Anyway might be worth considering?

Loft? Have a pretty standard hatch here and can just about fit a bike through it. Wouldn't want to be swapping them regulrly but if you intend using one bike for certain periods then changing over to the other it could work.

Or put the kids stuff up there and take over the shed ;)

The metal storage unit is a possibility but not really wanting to spend that much when I'm forking out for a new bike

    Loft I don't have

I think the evoc could be best option as it might fit in a cupboard or if it does go in shed at least I know it's safe and it also means I could take bike on holiday

An evoc is a solution, but I'd very quickly find that having to refit the wheels and straightening the bars every single ride, would get very tiresome. Especially as I'm very picky about getting my bars spot on.

Contrary to the feminist propaganda, men can be quite capable at all these things. The down side is that it will eat into your riding time, and cost you more to pay her not to do it for you.

On a serious note: sink an anchor point into the concrete floor of your shed and invest in good cable and locks. Look at hanging kids' bikes from roof, to leave valuable bikes down on the ground, close to locking facility.

Reference sheds: search for two historical threads called "Shed 1" and "Shed 2" - some guy had the same problem as you and there was a whole debate about storage solutions, security, etc, etc.

Sheds are not good places to keep bikes, cold and damp most of the time, your bike will rust away in short order. You really need to keep it in the house, in the dry.

Buy the missus a top of the range Bianchi then see how long the 'no bikes in the house' rules lasts

Yeah I have a cover on my bike just now in the shed but with winter coming may try and sneak it in the house
