Hi All,

My current bike which is a 58 specialised Allez 2013 with the carbon forks.

I'm 6'2ft and have been looking at both getting a bigger framed bike and one with better components. Full carbon frame would also be nice however I'm happy to take the forums advise.

Getting the latest and greatest bike is not important to me. I would be happy with an older model so that I get what i need as an upgrade.

105 gears or better as I'm currently stuck with the Allez very simple clicky shifters.

Brand wise I would like something with guarantee on the frame!

Hopefully you can help me spend some money

Looking to buy straight away so happy to catch a deal of a life time

Have been looking to build my own at www.ribblecycles.co.uk with a approx. £1K total.
All help much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,
Mike

Click Bikebuilder at the top right.

Then choose which frame you want and click 'start your build'

On the next page if you scroll down it will give you drop down menu's to choose frame size and components.

Mike, you need to work out which frame size and geometry you want first, you say your 58 Allez is too small, what is the problem with it, not long enough, high enough at the bars?

Hi length to the bars, I'm very tucked up. I've been advised to use the biggest frame on all models by Ribble today then it's down to personal preference on spec and frame. This is where I need some help :(?

What gearing is on your Allez, compact chainset 50/34T, cranklength 175mm, rear cassette range 11-28, are you happy with it or do you want something different? You mentioned that you would like the 105 group do you mean 5800 11sp?

Has the entry level system with thumb shift, 2300 compact hg50 13-36, 8 speed. I can out pedal the bike :/

So taking one of your choices the Sportive Racing as an example and using Shimano 5800 105 11 speed going through the bike builder you would choose
    Frame Size: 59cm (C-Top)
Change Groupset to: Shimano 105 (5800) Black 11spd Double Groupset
    Change Cassette to: Shimano 11spd 105 5800 Cassette 11-32
    Shimano 105 (5800) Black 11spd Chainset
    Choose size/colour: Compact 175 34/50
Change Rear Gear to: Shimano 105 (5800) Black 11spd Rear Gear Medium (GS)
Wheels/Tyres: you will have to ring Ribble and ask them for recommendations based on your weight.
Finishing Kit: Bar, Stem and Seatpost, I personally like the Deda Brand, bar width and stem length are personal to your fit on the bike, so measure your existing ones and workout whether your need wider/narrower and a longer/shorter stem, compare the difference in top tube length between the Allez and Ribble frames. Saddle again personal preference.

If you live anywhere near to Ribble go and visit and discuss in person, or ring them up and explain what you are after and ask for advice. Hope this helps

Would the Ribble not be a better option when I'm happy to spend £1k or a little more? This seems like a frame down from my current. I know components are better but I want a more responsive bike.
    Thanks
