Knee support?

Got my dad back on a bike however both his knees are buggered, any ideas on any bike friendly knee supports etc? I was thinking regular knee pads as they would both protect his knee give a small bit of support and also keep the joint warm. Alternatively is there anything that is better?

    Best to check with your GP for advice depending on the issue with his knees. Very roughly speaking a good bike setup will ease most aches and pains but it does depend.
