Rules for this thread: You're only allowed to recommend one tyre (which you should preferably own). No other information allowed, just the tyre name. I'll start:
FMB Supermud
FMB Supermud
Pannier, 120rpm.

The thing is the best tyre for racing won't survive 3 hours in the North Downs... there is a big discrepancy between what is good to lap a muddy CX course and what is good to train in the woodsleft the forum March 20230 -

so far bar the other day when I had a tyre slash which to be fair I've had in the past on MTB's as well.
higher end clinchers seem to holding up for north/south downs plus tow path or similar, oh and making MTBers look puzzled at Swinley!
had some Tracer PRO's though binned the rear in the photo and have a Racing Ralph. didn't have much luck with landcruisers on the hybrid many years back.
The cx reminds me of old MTB's, as long as you have some finesse so far even rocky descents aren't a problem, though admitly much slower than the MTB with tyres 60mm+ and 5inch travel...0 -
Well, if the question was the best tyre for all scenarios, then TUFO Flexus Cubus loaded up with sealant is actually really strong candidate. This tubular really is a jack of all trades with amazing durability, and while it's not the best 'racing' tyre, it will see off most clinchers (even in tubeless configurations).
I think we have scored a resounding FAIL on the OP instructions though.0 -

Even the type of riding is only part of the story; for instance I race on tubs, but always use clinchers at Herne Hill because of the puncture risk, and I bet that next time VamP goes to Fowlmead he'll be taking his Tufos...
In the interest of providing some more useful information, my vote is for:
Racing - FMB SuperMud/Grifo/Fango (though I've never ridden Challenge or Dugast for a fair comparison). Interested in trying FMB Slalom
Training - Vittoria XG/XM (tubeless)
Sand (and possibly snow if we get any) - Vittoria XN tubeless
Commuting - Schwalbe Durano PlusPannier, 120rpm.0 -
Sand (and possibly snow if we get any) - Vittoria XN tubeless
I did have the XN tubeless and they are useless on dry sand. Tried on the horse path in Richmond park when dry and the sandy part of Esher common.... going nowhere
On the other hand, the WTB Crosswolf at 28-30 PSI were making good progress on sand with very decent lateral stability. They work well also on some types of mud, but not on the peanut butter typeleft the forum March 20230 -

I run either XN in the dry or XM in the mud. Both are great tyres.0

Durano Plus for commute? Maybe, if you can live with 25c. Or, if you can live with a wired 28c.
Hyper Voyager are better. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Very, so far. Big volume as well so comfy. I like Durano Plus, a lot. I wish Schwalbe would get with the programme and make a 32c version. Or, at least, a 30.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I've got XN tubs on my grass track bike and in dry hard conditions at anything less than about 30psi they are useless. Above 30psi they are ok in terms of grip but pretty uncomfortable if the ground is bumpy. In the wet they are great, that is on wet grass just starting to cut up, at about 25psi. I haven't tried them on anything else as they are glued to my track wheels.
Answer to original question if I could only have one set of tyres for racing it would be Challenge Limus.0
