Hi, first post on the board so I hope this is in the right section.
We're off to Longleat Centerparcs on July 27th, which is only 30-odd kilometres from Cheddar Gorge. I'd love to have a day out to do the Gorge, but circumstances prevent me from taking my road bike.
Does anyone know of somewhere in the vicinity of Longleat that I can hire a road bike for the day? I'm guessing Bath if anywhere, but closer would be good.
Thanks in advance

Blimey. I was about to post the same thing! I'm planning a holiday near Devizes in May next year. Too much hassle to take my bike in the car with wife + 2 kids + luggage. So hiring a bike for a few days would be ideal.
Looks like some decent riding around that area?0 -
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

"21 gears in a wide range" i.e. 3x7 - sounds like hybrid or MTB to me?0 -
check here http://www.ttcycles.co.uk/ really nice guys and they definitely rent bikes for the canal towpath.
or here http://live2ride.co.uk/ i've not been to this shop for a while but may be worth an email/phone call to check.
As far as riding to the gorge stay well clear of the A361 as it's horrendous along there with big lorries from the quarry and bits of dual carraigeway. Try going into frome then use the lanes through Nunney, Mells and stoke st mendip.
Heres the route i used last time i went down there https://www.strava.com/activities/297894172 i realise it doesnt go into Frome but you can pick up the lanes i use pretty easily. Also have a look at going out to Mere and round through Stourhead as an alternitive ride as thats a really nice one.
Hope that helpsScott Foil - viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=129827790 -
Having been to Longleat numerous times, I don't know if they allow you take their hire bikes off campus, if they do then surely this is the answer? Unless you are after a "super bike" to hire for the day.================
