What Lights?

I’m getting back on a road bike after almost exclusively mountain biking for many years. As a driver I’ve seen some great rear lights on bikes which are ‘on’ constantly and flash brighter. From the driver’s seat I find them brilliant. Any ideas of a decent set of lights (pref rechargeable) which are quick to fit, light etc etc and are lighter than my mountain bike lights!

Whilst a bit on the expensive side, See.Sense rear lights make a HUGE difference to how drivers pass, even during daylight. They are bright, but the key is that the flash pattern changes in response to the conditions and that makes drivers notice. I've been using them for about a year now and can testify that they DEFINITELY have an effect on drivers. Where in a 2 hour ride without them, more than half the cars would pass too close, its the exception that pass too close. Can't put a price on that!0

Best rear light I've ever owned and I've gone through a few.

Absoute bombproof as its water tight. Most of my other rear lights failed in the rain. With this rear light you screw the cap off the end to reveal a male USB plug, just plug the light into your computer so no need for cables. Insanely bright during the day time and I've had a passing motorist (who also cycles) stop me during the day to ask what light it was, he was that impressed. I simply cant think of anything to fault it."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -
I would recommend the Knog Blinder (https://goo.gl/u4R3XH - https://goo.gl/BwJIvW). Specially the rear one (the front one is nice, but it is more of a be-seen light than anything else).
They are super easy to fit and recharge, and they are sufficiently powerful to stand out even in any conditions.0 -
Moon Shield,
Had a number of people ask me make and model of the light as it is very bright, tend to run it on the lowest setting.0 -
You'll find a whole host of super bright rear lights these days, made by a variety of manufacturers. The key things to look out for are anything stated as being "1 watt" or over (very bright) and anything that runs off a lithium battery (a couple of AAA's can run 1 watt or above lights... just not for very long at maximum brightness.... so lithium cells tend to be used on the lights with higher outputs). Then it's just a case of looking for other features that appeal to you such as USB charging, mounting options, waterproofing and general aesthetics.0

I love my SeeSense - must remember to send it back for the upgrade...
Don't rely on just the one though - always two on the back if it's dark - you never know when one will fall off or fail.
The Smart Lunar lights are cheap and decent.0
