Chain length
I'm currently running Ultegra 6800 with a compact and 11/28 cassette.
I want to, occasionally, run a 11/32 cassette. I plan to change the current short cage (SS) RD to a GS RD.
My question. If I setup the chain length for the 11/32 cassette will this then work fine with the 11/28?
My logic thinks it's fine but just to be sure....

“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

Using the calculator in the link below your 11-28 needs 56 inches ideally while the 11-32 needs 57 inches.

Either way you should be OK but erring on the safe side I would opt to fit the chain for the largest sprocket (ie 32, 57 inches). The rear derailleur will take up the slack when you switch to the 11-280 -
Thanks. Yes, I was planning to set it up for the 32 sprocket. The 28 sprocket is the second largest sprocket on the 11/32 cassette anyway so the more I think about it I can't see any issues with doing that.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”
