The rugrats have got a show on today so they're got two performances to do and expect parental support throughout

So the wife is doing the early shift and I'm cycling over to a mates near the Wrekin and then trying out a orange five - should be good

The rest of the day will involve running around after kids or working, as if I'm stuck inside for the day I might as well catch up

Just took Thing 1 and Thing 2 for a 3 mile walk. 1.5 miles of it uphill at 15-20% thinking all the while that this would be a hell of a ride on a CX bike, in a bid to knacker them out so that they will sleep when it's bedtime. Right now, they are very peaceful and not scrapping whilst I have another latte. Happy day. Missed the impending weather - early bird and all that.

    Laters.

Cracking 75 mile ride earlier, family stuff now and then off out for tea.....
And God created the bicycle, so that man could use it as a means for work and to help him negotiate life's complicated journey.
  • Cracking 65 miler earlier, was going to be family stuff later but they've all farked off and left me whilst they get up to various things. Pub and porn possibly on the cards

No cycling at all due to being up to my neck in house renovation type stuff. Dropped a can of paint on TDVs bike though, so does that count?

A proper "bloke" day for me today, 40odd mile ride this morning followed by building a subframe for the decking in the back garden (impact drivers are a DIY must...) and then took the boy fishing on one of the local lakes.

For the carbon freaks, I've just got an 11ft middy pellet waggler rod and put it through its paces with about 40lbs of carp.

Now sat watching TDF with a belting bottle of red, Castillo San Lorenzo Rioja. 2007 Reserva.

    Hola Bastardos :D

Been out for a massive paella and a stroll through town which is pretty lively. Bit too warm indoors just now as the air con is fubarred and can't be fixed till tomorrow am so looks like I will be bitten to death by mozzies tonight. Off to Tarragona tomorrow followed by lounging in the pool.

Might be even warmer in Tarragona.

@ HD - you are a barbarian. You have low standards and should be shot. Fishing for Carp?? FFS, fly fishing on a floating line should be the only form of fishing. Sticking your dodgy rod in a muddy puddle luring the fat lazy victims with the sharp little teeth using curry balls, maggots and god knows what else is not 'fishing'. It's a bit like getting a beautiful old Italian hand made frame and sticking carbon bars on it.

Well I sort of agree but as I got banned from Pennine for using bread, pellets seemed the next best thing.

It isn't a puddle per say, it's a well run club water. And the boy caught his first Tench so it's all good!

I bet you didn't eat the Tench. Next step for the boy is pulling in a 3.5lb wild Brown trout in a rocky river on a size 14 hook Midge. Send him up here but include a SAE, sleeping bag, some beer (for me) and a food shopping voucher.

He's 12, about 5ft and 5 stone. He can't even lift beer, never mind cope with a glass rod and a forward weighted line.

If you've got fly fishing as good as that on your doorstep I'll await the details/invite :D

Yep. Dunskey £25 day ticket, £15 evening ticket. Glentrool, River Cree, stunning views, £20 all day, River Bladnoch Trout and Salmon, about the same.

    What's my incentive? :D

@ HD. The beer is for me.

I could always return the favour by inviting you to dangle your maggot in the Trent :D

Joking aside that sounds like some nice fishing possibilities there, might PM you for more information when I'm putting together next years fly fishing trips. Always useful having local knowledge when trying new areas.

    Aherm, I beg you pardon.

Doesn't the Trent wind all the way back to that unmentionable place starting with the letter S? I wouldn't risk dangling my snapper in it.

There's no denial of the 'maggot' insinuation, mind :D
