Hi
I am getting back in to riding and used to ride a MTB with 3 cogs at the crank but am looking at a new Giant Talon 27.5 which only has 2. My LBS is telling me that with a 24/38 and 11-36 on the rear I will not notice the difference. Am I been sold a line or is this the case? I'm 47 and like pies and beer so not some svelte rocket.

Pretty much the case. Work out the difference in ratios between 22/34 and 24/36 and see.I don't do smileys.
