Sort of like the tortoise shell ones, but reasonably underwhelmed to be honest.

I'll hold out in the hope they launch some nice "pro team" sunnies ;)

Those look like they just copied Raybans and used pink lenses.

Being Rapha, its hard to tell what in that photo costs £195 - the glasses, jersey or hat.

Even at £1.95 I would not bother 1.95 second buying them.

Wow, they're quite ugly. And I bet the top of the rims get in the way a fair bit as well...
These make my Okleys look positively good value for what you get :!:

Saw them today in Mcr. If it had been a collaboration with eg Oakley a la Red Bull or Ducati or Ray Ban then they might have come out looking nice but there is nothing about them and for the money you can buy some nice lifestyle glasses from those two makers (actually the same owner I think) or go to Bolle or Vuarnet

Someone who knows about this stuff tells me the 'Aero shoes' may be 'interesting' and that's all he'd say about them.

They'll be Giro Empire SLX then. Which Phinney reckoned to be more aero.

Rapha shoes are, RRP wise, only a bit more than Giro RRP. But the Empire are currently £235 ish so I predict £350 ;)

To me , the entire Rapha thing is becoming far too expensive to ever consider buying it…there are so many good deals on equally as good Gore/Castelli/Extxeondo stuff if you look round the Net.
I remember getting into Apple computers MANY years ago, and the salesman in the USA, where I first looked at the very 1st iMac "old portable tv" look said to me…and i quote.. "You're not just buying a computer, you're buying a lifestyle!" Wow…what a cheesy sell line…and unfortunately now I think Rapha appear to be going the same way.
Theres nothing wrong in developing state of the art racwear when you supply a top tour team, but there should be some stuff in the range that DOESNT cost your entire clothing budget for 2 items!! I used to aspire to own a couple of bits of Rapha kit, but I actually killed the idea as the stuff got more and more costly..my Rapha collection amounts to a charity cap for Thrivor…£10 well spent for a charity, as for anymore items..not now!

I've never got my head around Raphas economics, surely they'll sell more items if they were cheaper. More people would be willing to buy a cheaper product. For example 1000 people would pay £75 for a jersey rather than 100 people buying a £130 jersey.
As for Mac laptops, I'm impressed with the quality of the screen and it's been the most reliable computer ive owned. I can simply leave it on all the time and when I return it always does what I ask of it. It is worth the money compared to other computers I've owned or used. But is something as basic as a pair of cycling mitts worth £130 and shoes worth £300 ?

With your economics insight, I'm sure you can help them increase their £39m turnover.

£28m isn't it? And a profit of £600k. I've no idea whether that's good or bad. He has a point though. A lot of what they make is the best, I do wonder if they'd sell twice as many, for example, Pro Team jackets at £150 rather than £190.

What - and lose the opportunity to get criticised for being absurdly expensive in threads like this? I think not... ;)

That must be where the likes of Ferrari/McLaren/Bugatti etc have been going wrong. Charge £100k instead of £250k or if Mercedes charged £20k instead of £40k they could sell many more cars.

The Assos equivalent is more expensive (http://www.assos.com/en/19/singleProduct.aspx?cat=6,19,26&prod=344 ) at around 250 quid, not sure which Castelli jacket one would chose.
I would perhaps buy more Rapha products if they offered colours I liked.

More colours mean more stock which Assos used to have but got rid of their coloured apparel some time back eg red kneewarmers. The Assos glasses are v.nice for bike riding but look silly off the bike imo whereas the Rapha ones just look....Dierdre from Corrie. As for pricing, I think every firm works on the principle of what won't they pay and pitches the price just below that point. So Rapha/Assos/Castelli often have similar price points and it works in watch world or car world where a 'premium' brand pitches against a rival

the less "expert" people become with the technical aspects of "product" the more they rely upon the "aesthetic". However, those less capable of understanding the Aesthetic will just fall back on the most expensive being best. Anecdotally, my granny in law once had some jumpers in stock that she just couldn't sell, so she doubled the price and the were sold out in a week.

I've been looking for a new short sleeve jersey (not Rapha) and a lot of them in the shops are around £75 which I think is way overpriced for a bit of fabric made into a shirt with a zip and a couple of pockets.

Prendas or a sale at eg PBK or Wiggle? There are price points and you can see how brands tie a certain type of product eg Gabba and similar or a 'premium' aero or climbers jersey to a price point that their competitors charge. Construction of the garment has little to do with it. Ralph Lauren/Lacoste/Fred Perry have all charged stupid money for a cotton shirt with two buttons, a collar and a motif
