It's time for a new chain so I am going change out the cassette while I'm at it. At the moment My road bike has a CS-5700 cassette and a KMC X10.93 chain.
What would be a decent cassette and chain for about £40-£50 ? . I know it's not alot of money but I am on a real tight budget at the moment

Depends if you need the same or better?
Cheap:
Tiagra cassette http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-tiagra-4600-10-speed-cassette/ £12.50
Ultegra chain http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-ultegra-6701-10-speed-chain-116-links/ £13.99
£26.49 total
If you want the bling then £30 for an Ultegra cassette on Wiggle meaning, £43.99; still in your budget.0 -
Sent you a PM but this would be in your budget and an all round upgrade on the cassette and chain:

CS-5700 cassette and a KMC X10.930 -
thanks for the links and the offer londoncommuter but I could do with a 11-28T , these legs need every help they can.
The CS-6700 11-28T cassette looks a good deal. Would you say the 6701 chain is a better chain than the KMC X10.93 ?0 -

No, Shimano can't make chains. Get the KMC they come with quick links so you dont have to mess around with those stupid archaic chain pins.0 -

Misinformation alert!
Shimano chains are great. Just use a KMC quick link (cheap in Decathlon) to join them.
Here is the truth on chains:

I used to run KMC chains until I had a spell where they kept snapping. Shimano chains are cheap, reliable and durable and the 6701 is a much nicer chain than the X10.93: longer lasting and less prone to corrosion and discoloration.0 -

Except you do, you have to cut the chain to length so you still have to drive out pins etc.0 -
Thanks for the advise guys , I've had a good look round and I found within my budget an Ultegra CS-6700 cassette 11-28T and a KMC X10.93 Chain for £43 delivered which I have just ordered,
thanks all, much appreciated0
