I want to upgrade my rear axle but all the sizes confuse me. I have this hub http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/nukeproof-generator-rear-mtb-hub-3-in-1-2014/rp-prod110054 I am currently using the super skinny qr skewer like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-qr-steel-skewers-rear/rp-prod31896 I want something a bit bigger like a 9mm or 10mm axle. My bike uses normal dropouts.

So you are using a 10mm axle already."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

If you want to change to a 10mm through axel you will need the conversion kit and through axel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I think the axle is a 12mm with end caps to convert to qr0

That sucks, I will start looking a new hub.0

Not really worth the bother, what benefit do you hope to gain?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Nick, he is looking to use something like the DT 10mm RWS skewer.
Unfortunately, this hub can't be converted to a 10mm through axle system. QR or 12mm only.
and if it will take a 12 x 135 it will take a 12 to 10mm nutted conversion axle.
as to if the extra weight will do anything to make things stiffer depends on how flexy things are to start with."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
